Air embolism / deliberate bleeding from NG tube.
Method alleged: Air embolism with deliberate NG-tube bleeding.
Prosecution experts: Dr Dewi Evans; Dr Sandie Bohin.
Panel: evidence points to natural pathology, including possible thrombosis.
Original post-mortem was reviewed by Dr Andreas Marnerides at trial. Independent paediatric-pathology re-readings filed with the October 2025 supplementary CCRC submissions identify natural-cause differentials including neonatal thrombosis (a documented Panel-flagged differential), evolving NEC complications, and the preterm-twin instability cohort pattern. Baby E was the preterm twin brother of Baby F (the 'insulin' attempted-murder count) and the preterm-twin pair context is itself a recognised high-risk neonatal category. The reported NG-tube bleeding has alternative explanations including coagulopathy of prematurity and stress ulceration that do not require any deliberate act.
